Each term at Kids Unlimited we run a range of competitions with great prizes to extend and engage our young people. Take a look below to see what is on offer this term. Remember you have to be in it to win it!

Competition brief: To create your very own game!
This can be any kind of game you would like to make (we want to see how creative you can be!) Any student of any skill level can join in the competition and has a chance to win prizes for coming 1st in their skill level.
Students will have to use their skills and imaginations to create their own game that must be able to be won/lost. The complexity and type of game genre chosen is left completely up to you to decide!

What we are looking for in your entries:
Students may choose which level they wish to enter into and should specify when completing the google form which one they are entering. Here are the different tasks for the different levels.
Beginner:
Intermediate /Advanced:
Prizes: Each division will win an exciting Computer gaming/coding bundle including a led rainbow keyboard, mouse and headset.
Deadline: We are accepting entries until 5pm Wednesday the 18th December, 2024.

What we are looking for in your entries:
- Originality (How original the game idea is, if lots of other students use the same exact idea then it will be less original)
- How effective/efficient the code blocks are (if a 50 block of code can do the same thing as a 100 blocks, the 50 block code would win)
- Overall fun and quality of the game (and if it works as intended)

- Create at least 1 animation on a sprite by changing costumes
- Add at least 2 sound effects somewhere in the game
- Create some kind of story/theme for the game
Intermediate /Advanced:

- Create at least one of your own sprites and animate that sprite using costumes in the game
- Add at least 4 sound effects somewhere in the game
- Create some kind of story/theme for the game

Competition brief: We are running an online chess tournament for Kids Unlimited families. Different age divisions and prizes are available, check out the details below. You may only enter one age division.
Date: Saturday 14th December
Time: 10am start and a 2.15pm finish
Format: 7 rounds, 10 minutes + 2 seconds of increment
Divisions: Years prep to 2 / Years 3 to 6
Prizes: Each division wins a crystal chess board!

Secondly, tell us about its features and what makes it unique.
Thirdly, tell us how your robot helps us in the garden and why its function is important.
Note: The robot does not need to be a Lego design.
Prizes: The best entry will win their very own mini robot friend to build and code!
