Coronavirus General Information
The safety and wellbeing of our staff, students and community is our highest priority.
The situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to be dynamic and changing every day. Please rest assured that we are in constant communication with each of our client schools and are following all directives of the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.
To mitigate the risk of the spread of the COVID-19 virus to Kids Unlimited students and staff:
Staff and students are encouraged to be alert to the symptoms of COVID-19 in themselves and others. Those with cold / flu-like symptoms should self-isolate immediately and seek medical advice.
COVID-19 spreads through close contact with an infected person; mostly face-to-face or within a household. It cannot jump across a room or be carried for long distances in the air so we should all go about our lives as normal.
There is a Coronavirus Policy on the Kids Unlimited website, which is updated regularly. With the situation changing rapidly, schools, staff and students should check this page for updates.
Schools and parents are asked, if they have any confirmed case of the virus to immediately contact Kids Unlimited on 1300 424 377. Kids Unlimited will likewise inform all our schools of any confirmed cases within our community.

What is Coronavirus (COVID-19)?
Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a newly identified virus that is causing an outbreak of respiratory illness. It was identified in December 2019 in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province, China.
The immediate health risk to the general public is considered low at this time, although travel-associated cases and transmission among close contacts are expected.
As we see the continued climb of COVID-19 case counts around the world, I want to remind folks about a couple of things we know about this virus:

As we see the continued climb of COVID-19 case counts around the world, I want to remind folks about a couple of things we know about this virus:
- Unlike the flu, very young people do not seem to be at any increased risk from COVID-19
- Risk appears to ramp up for people over age 50
- A key outcome we’re trying to achieve is the protection of our *community* and the “flattening of the infection curve”

Coronavirus Policy - Students

Missed classes and late start
Keep us informed
Take note of Victorian Government advice: COVID-19 spreads through close contact with an infected person; mostly face-to-face or within a household. It cannot jump across a room or be carried for long distances in the air so we should all go about our lives as normal. Please keep coming to classes! Our staff are being extremely vigilant in order to minimise transmission risk to themselves, students and staff. If anyone in our community has a confirmed case of the virus we will let you know. School Closures Kids Unlimited is committed to supporting students' continued learning should school closures be required in response to the threat of COVID-19. All our Term 2 programs have been scheduled with at least 5 weeks of flexibility - meaning that schools can be closed for up to 5 weeks without any classes being missed. If needed, classes will be rescheduled so students do not miss out on sessions. Should schools be closed for longer, or rescheduling be impossible, we will discuss with your school the most appropriate response to meet the needs of all stakeholders. This response may include:
If appropriate, we can also provide small-group activities on school closure days (either in-home or at school) in order to support parents who require supervision and activities for their children during closure periods. Should parents need to take their children to work on school closure days, we are also able to arrange at short-notice a service to your Workplace and provide in-the-workplace support (supervision and activities for children). Please raise this option with your workplace as early as possible! If you require any specific information about your school closure and how it impacts our extra-curricular programs please contact us on 1300 424 377. Coronavirus Policy - Schools
Updated 16 March 2020 Kids Unlimited is committed to supporting students' continued learning should school closures be required in response to the threat of COVID-19. We can deliver most of our sessions via an Online Delivery Platform, either fitting in with the delivery methodology utilised by your school, or using our own platforms for digital delivery; Google for Education Hangouts, or Zoom. In response to Government advice encouraging us to practice Social Distancing we have cancelled all Interschool Events until further notice. These multi-school events are deemed a higher risk than single school in-community activities. If appropriate, we can also provide small-group activities on school closure days (either in-home or at school) in order to support parents who require supervision and activities for their children. Should parents need to take their children to work on school closure days, we are also able to arrange at short-notice a service to the Workplace and provide in-the-workplace support (supervision and activities for children). If you require any changes to our delivery to support your efforts during this time please contact us on 1300 424 377. |
