Our coding classes aim to provide kids with the necessary
skills for being champions of a digital age. Learning how games
and computer programs work is an exciting way we foster an
interest in the underlying structures of all modern software.
Our classes start with ‘Scratch’ – a graphical programming
tool created by MIT. Scratch provides a fun graphic interface
for teaching code and correct coding order. Through trial and
error combined with logical thinking, we equip children
with the tools for accurate and efficient coding. We use real
examples and creative projects to provide an atmosphere of
enjoyable challenge that the kids love.
Coding naturally teaches a step-by-step thinking process that is
relevant to all areas of problem solving. Attention to detail and
awareness of design are also involved. However, through our
unique classes, children are encouraged to creatively explore
solutions in a way that benefits them no matter what subjects
they do. It is clear from all the benefits as to why “Coding is the
Week 1 - Introduction to Scratch
Students navigate the interface. Moving the Scratch sprite, adding backgrounds, drawing sprites and backgrounds in both vector and bitmap modes.
Week 2 - Blocks
Students look at costumes and motion to create a simple game of Pong.
Week 3 - Variables
Students discover variables to make a bouncing ball game.
Week 4 - Operators
Students learn about if/else statements, greater then, less than, and equal, to shift sprites around the screen.
Week 5 - Animation
Students create an animation.
Week 6 - aMAZEing
Students program a maze.
Week 7 - Tower of Hanoi
Students program the Tower of Hanoi puzzle.
